Her achievements as a child performer in America (which we call Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy class. For a child of Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and a loving family, these were very natural traits. Maureen entered the sanctity of family on August 17, 1920, at Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons' mom, Lilburn, was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin company, and also had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons placed second from a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and was a gruelling athlete in games when she was young. Her passion was coupled with an unnatural talent for performing. In the end, she received almost all of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances in her home country. As she reached the age of 14 the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her dreams of classical theater and singing opera.
